Oppo F11 Pro Full Review
Oppo Phones are known for their elegant designs and the F11 Pro is no exception. The phone is extremely premium to hold and has a polycarbonate unibody finish. The back panel features a triple-gradient which is quite a beauty to behold. The phone is slightly heavy but this is not a major concern as it has curved sides that make it comfortable to hold. The rear of the phone has a dual-camera setup sitting centrally on a slightly raised strip.
There is also a fingerprint scanner at the back, located just below the cameras. The front of the device features a notch-less display which measures 6.53-inches and has a 84.4% screen to body ratio. The device also has a pop-up selfie camera that pops up every time you launch it or use face recognition. Oppo F11 Pro has its secondary microphone and its ambient light sensor on the top of the phone.
The long and narrow earpiece is placed above the display, with the proximity sensor placed to its left but neatly hidden. At the bottom is a Micro-USB port, alongside a 3.5mm headphone audio jack, a microphone hole, and a loudspeaker grille. The lack of the modern USB-Type C port is a little disappointing considering the fact that even budget smartphones have this.
The power button is positioned on the right, while the volume rocker is on the left side of the device for easy access. The hybrid dual-SIM tray is positioned just above the power rocker. The device is available in Thunder Black and Aurora Green colours.
The F11 Pro from Oppo Mobile features a 6.53-inches LTPS IPS LCD capacitive touchscreen with Full HD resolution at 1080×2340 pixels and 19.5:9 aspect ratio. The phone’s display is great for watching movies and for gaming. The colours are real although there appears to be a slight oversaturation of red and yellow colours. The display is bright enough and can be seen even when under the sun. When in the dark, the display dims enough to not hurt the eyes and there is a blue light filter for night-time use.
The device comes with decent internal specs for a device of this price range. It is powered by a Mediatek Helio P70(nm) chipset. The CPU is Octa-core (4×3.2 GHz Cortex-A73 & 4X2.0 GHz Cortex-A53) while the GPU is Mali-G72 MP3. RAM is either 4GB or 6GB, with internal storage of 64GB or 128GB.
Gaming on the device is smooth and enjoyable although you may notice a little bit of lag after an hour or more of gameplay when playing heavy games like PUBG Mobile. The call quality is good, and earpiece functions perfectly. The fingerprint sensor is fast, as is the face unlock system. The face unlock system is single-camera which means it is susceptible to breaches by photos and videos.
This is where Oppo F11 performs best. The rear camera features a dual camera setup of 48MP Sony IMX586 main sensor and a 5MP depth sensor. The phone capture great pictures and is even better than most rival devices in this regard.
The phone uses the pixel binning technique to produce detailed and sharp 12MP images from the 48MP sensor but you can opt to shoot at 48MP if you choose. Simply go to camera settings and select this option but in reality, there isn’t a noticeable difference between the 12MP binned images captured by the device and the 48MP unbinned ones. The front-facing selfie camera pops up when needed and is pretty fast. Takes less than a second to open and about the same time to close up.
The camera is 16MP and takes quality images for use on social media. There is a Nightscape mode for shooting at night but there is much work to be done by Oppo in this regard as images captured in this mode had a lot of noise. Video recording on the device is at 1080p and 720p, both @ 30fps. EIS helps to stabilize handheld shoots.
The battery life is good as the device comes with a 4000mAh non-removable Li-Po battery. This allows the user to enjoy watching their favorite videos for hours with fear of battery running out. Also, heavy games like PUBG can be enjoyed for 2 hours non-stop on a full battery, which is good. The 20W (VOOC 3.0) fast charger is available for boosting your phone’s battery quickly. The battery can go from 0% to 50% in 30 minutes with a full charge taking just about an hour.
Great design and build, smooth performance, impressive camera and a solid battery life all make the Oppo F11 Pro a great buy. The phone is not without its flaws as expected but overall it represents great value for money if all you are after in a smartphone is camera and looks.
