ITel S15 Full Review

Design and Build

Over the years, most of the phones released by iTel Mobile feature plastic material and the S15 is no exception. It comes in a trendy plastic body and weighs just 153g. The phone features a dewdrop notch which houses the front-facing selfie camera. The IPS LCD capacitive touchscreen is protected by scratch-resistant glass. A dual-camera setup dons the rear of the phone as the main camera configuration.

The camera sensors are arranged vertically at the right-hand side, with the LCD flash placed just below the camera setup. There is also a rear-mounted fingerprint scanner which is quite good considering the price of the phone. The audio jack and USB Type-C port sit at the bottom of the device. The volume rocker and power button are both on the right side of device. The phone is available in 3 colours, Aqua Blue, Champagne Gold, Deep Grey.

Display

The device features a dewdrop notch 6.1-inch HD+ IPS LCD which has a resolution of 720 x 1520 pixel and aspect ratio 19.5:9. This allows the user to enjoy videos and games played with the device. Both iTel S15 and S15 Pro feature similar displays.

Performance

For an entry-level smartphone, Itel S15 and S15 Pro pack enough processing ability to meet the needs of the user. The device is powered by a 1.3GHz quad-core processor and a Unisoc SC7731E chipset. The graphics is handled by a Mali 400 MP2 GPU. ITel S15 comes with 1GB RAM and 16GB internal storage that is expandable by an additional 64GB through a microSD card. The Pro version has 2GB RAM and 32GB internal storage that can be expanded by an additional 128GB through a microSD card.

The phone runs the latest Android OS, the Android 9.0 Pie and comes with the latest Google Gallery Go pre-installed. The phone is capable of handling regular everyday tasks but will struggle significantly to meet the needs of a heavy gamer. Those who are seeking a device for gaming purposes should not consider the iTel S15 but the Pro version may be fairly useful for that purpose.

Camera

The phone features a dual-sensor main camera setup and a single sensor selfie camera. The rear dual-camera setup has both an 8MP and a 5MP sensor that are capable of capturing great images. The camera has an aperture of f2.2 and there is an LED flashlight too for taking pictures under low light conditions. The front-facing selfie camera is 8MP and has an aperture of f2.0 and AI Face Beauty 3.0. Again, for an entry-level device, the camera configuration is good.

Battery

The phone comes with a 3000mAh non-removable battery that can serve you all day long on a single charge but with minimal usage. The Pro version comes with an increased battery life of 4000mAh. The phone is not equipped with fast charging technology but this is to be expected of an entry-level smartphone. The technology is currently available only for mid-level and high-end devices.

Conclusion

ITel S15 and its more powerful Pro version have been discussed in detail in this article. These entry-level devices are designed to meet the needs of a new entrant into the world of android smartphones. Running the latest Android 9.0 Pie OS, the device is powered by a Quad-core 1.3 GHz Cortex-A7 CPU and a ARM Mali T820 MP1. The RAM is only 1GB or 2GB if the Pro version is considered.

The device is powerful enough to seamlessly handle everyday tasks like browsing, messaging, multi-tasking and so on. More tasking operations like gaming may be more difficult to handle for the smartphone. The 3000mAh battery is capable of lasting through the day if used minimally but the 4000mAh battery capacity of the Pro version allows you to do much more on the phone without fear of running out of battery. A very capable device for its price.
