Xiaomi will attempt to break a record with the launch of its next smartphone. The company president Lin Bin teased a 48 MP camera on an unannounced smartphone on Chinese social media platform Weibo. Although he didn’t provide any information other than that.
With the Huawei P20 Pro and Mate 20 Pro highlighting 40-megapixel sensors, Xiaomi looks to beat other smartphones with a 48MP sensor. In terms of camera, Xiaomi’s smartphones have fallen behind other phones, so this resembles a sincere endeavour to jump ahead: if the smartphone bearing this 48MP camera launches in January, it will be the first smartphone to do as such with that numerous megapixels.
Recall that earlier this year, Xiaomi announced that it will have a dedicated in-house camera division, we won’t have to wait for long to see the result of the team labour.
For the record, Nokia holds the record for the smartphone with the most camera megapixels- the Lumia 1020– with 41 MP.
Like the Nokia 808 PureView and Huawei Mate 20 Pro, the unreleased Xiaomi phone is likely to use its pixel count for high-quality digital zooming, pixel-binning for lower noise, and other computational trickery, rather than outputting enormous image files.
